17066 - Pediatric Dermatologic Emergencies

The purpose of this activity is for dermatology clinicians to be able to identify pediatric patients with dermatological emergencies to facilitate emergent care needs.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify subtle signs of pediatric dermatological emergencies to facilitate treatment initiation.
  • Analyze skin conditions commonly seen in pediatric population including Exczema Herpeticum, Staph scalded skin syndrome, Stevens Johnson, and Toxic epidermal necrolysis. (RX 15 minutes)
  • Discuss pharmacotherapeutic interventions frequently prescribed in these conditions including dosing, application and monitoring.
